On Saturday, March 27th, the GACS Varsity Academic Team traveled to Bleckley County High School in Cochran, Georgia to compete for the State Championship.
The Spartans did not disappoint as they won the STATE RUNNER-UP position, and as Team Captain Sandy Jiang shares, “The final match was very, very close.”
The Spartans competed against A-AAA classified teams across Georgia.
“I am proud at how dedicated our team has been and how they put such heart into their efforts. Our spirit is very awesome! Some students had to drive after tennis matches and some were even sick. Very very dedicated people!” added Jiang.
Academic Coach Brad Denton has this to say: “I don’t know if I have ever been so proud of a team. What a run! Sandy Jiang, Trey Martin, Nita Jain, Steven Hanna, Katie Light, Larry Kim, M. J. Cabato, Ahyan Niazi, Azim Damani, Kathryn Osbon, Kayla Wilding, and Sunny Patel — outstanding. Simply outstanding. Thank you for a great weekend!”
