Balloons can be colored, sparkly, shaped, helium filled- anything you can think of. They remind you of silly birthday party games and how scared you were the first time you heard one pop, how proud when you first learned to blow them up yourself. Balloons are a symbol of childhood.
On Thursday, November 12, however, the balloons decorating the tables in the Student Family Center symbolized the opposite: the future of four incredibly talented GACS senior athletes. These balloons were in celebration of their signing letters of intent to commit to playing college sports.
Lindsay Adams signed with Kennesaw State University for golf; Amanda Komisarow signed with Furman University for volleyball; Chaney Means signed with Western Kentucky University for basketball, and Trent Wiedeman signed with College of Charleston for basketball.
Cameras flashed and the students smiled on this momentous occasion, one they had probably looked forward to for quite a long time, one that would bring not just the relief of knowing where they would be next year but also the excitement of opportunities to come.
GACS will miss these star athletes but, just as Kennesaw State University, Furman University, Western Kentucky University, and College of Charleston will have these talents, so will future GACS students step up to the plate.

What a great experience GACS has been…for these athletes and their families. I’ll tell you a secret, when Lindsay returns after the break, she won’t have any wisdom teeth…remember it’s a secret.
Happy christmas to all!!!
